Collaborative XR Authoring and Performance

I supported the STEM ‘Digital Mural project’ where sensors enabled the students and public to interact with the student web-authored murals through body movements linearized to concepts.

My role was extracting needs to form use cases for the team, then implementing them (Python, HTML, CSS, JS) part time over a 4 month period.

The architecture was designed as Model View Controller, yet in this case the View was both in a Website (for authoring) as well as in an immersive projection mapped display (for performance).

Result was twofold – a web authoring tool, and a realtime performance tool.

The 2012-13 interactive digital mural project created a prototype e-learning experience at the Los Angeles State Historic Park (LASHP) and Lincoln High through the development of an interactive mural. This public space installation and authoring tool was part education, part activism, and part urban planning.

Authoring UI has gone on to service 3 other research projects.
